Through the Performing Arts in Schools touring program, students from rural, urban, and reserve schools experience live music, theatre, dance, drumming, magic, storytelling, circus arts, and other genres of performances and workshops. Professional performing artists from Saskatchewan, Canada, and beyond are selected by a jury of teachers, arts educators, and youth for their artistic excellence, curriculum connections, and special ability to engage students. Four to five tours are selected each school year. Applicants will be notified in late July.
In 2024/25, the School Touring Program offered in-person presentations in the following disciplines: Haida and Squamish Storytelling, and Issue-Based Theatre for Middle Years and High School audiences, 1-day Hip Hop Dance Residencies, and Theatre. There were four tours and 67 presentations, involving 56 schools across 35 communities throughout the province. These performances reached approximately 16,927 students and teachers.
