Please find attached a media release for the upcoming Saskatchewan tour of Keith Alessi’s Tomatoes Tried to Kill Me But Banjos Saved My Life,
presented by the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) and its member Arts Councils.
The 16-community tour begins September 17 in Shaunavon and continues through October 8.
What makes this tour particularly special is that proceeds from every performance will remain in the communities and support local causes. These include chemotherapy and healthcare programs in Estevan, Moosomin and Nipawin; hospital and healthcare improvements in Assiniboia, Kindersley, Swift Current and Preeceville; support for families experiencing healthcare crises in Hudson Bay; youth music mentorship in La Ronge; long-term care programs in Leader; Farm in the Dell in Biggar; the Shellbrook Theatre renovation; and community arts initiatives in Melfort.
Keith Alessi is donating 100% of his artist fees from the tour, continuing the charitable mission behind the production. Through performances and donations, Tomatoes Tried to Kill Me But Banjos Saved My Life has raised more than $1.4 million CAD for charities and community organizations as of August 2026.
