OSAC is greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Wilda Gardner, OSAC Life Member on September 24, 2024. Wilda received an OSAC Life Membership in 2009 alongside her husband, Jim Gardner.
Wilda and Jim were not only life partners but partners in their community involvement as well. They were supporters of the Kindersley & District Arts Council (KDAC) from its inception in 1977 and became active members of the council shorty thereafter. Wilda served as the Performing Arts Director, Secretary and Co-Chair of the local committee when Kindersley hosted Showcase in 2001. Jim was in charge of season ticket sales and corporate donations and developed the corporate sponsorship program for KDAC, and was an integral member of the Council’s fundraising team.
Wilda was an educator for almost 30 years, completing her career as the senior high school math teacher at Kindersley Composite School. She continued to have an impact on the lives of the students at KCS as a Grade 11 academic award and Grade 12 scholarship were named in her honour. She was involved with a number of Grad choirs, school operettas, accompanying choirs in the music festival and the Carol Festival.
OSAC extends our deepest sympathy to Wilda and Jim’s three children: Kathy, David and Bob, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
