Miriam Körner, originally from Germany, is an award winning writer and picture book illustrator whose work is inspired by her love for the north and the people who make it their home.
She has been recognized nationally and internationally through several awards for her writing and illustrations including two picture book collaborations with indigenous Elders – When the Trees Crackle with Cold: A Cree Calendar (YNWP, 2016) and When We Had Sled Dogs: A story from the trapline (YNWP, 2019).
Her watercolour illustrations to When the Trees Crackle with Cold: A Cree Calendar. pīsimwasinahikan - a collaboration with Bernice Johnson-Laxdal - is currently touring with OSAC's Art On the Move program.
Miriam offers writing and illustrating workshops for all ages as well as author/illustrator readings and presentations. Workshops range from 45 minutes to weeklong projects.
