OSAC Showcase 2017 Performers Announced

OSAC is pleased to announce the list of artists selected to perform at our annual showcase event October 13 & 14 in Regina at the Regina Performing Arts Centre. OSAC Arts Councils will select artists from this showcase to perform in their 2018/2019 season. You can view the full list with bios and websites here.

OSAC Announces 2017/2018 Performing Arts Season!

OSAC together with its member Arts Councils across the province are excited to announce the upcoming 2017/2018 season. 165 performances will be presented by 43 different artists in 35 Saskatchewan Communities! Please read the media release HERE.

Upcoming Book Celebrates Estevan's Influence in Saskatchewan Culture!

Estevan's Marguerite Gallaway, was the first executive director of the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils. She played a key role in starting up arts councils and bringing cultural events to smaller communities. Lynn Gidluck hopes she can do justice to the role that Estevan played in the growth of OSAC, and bringing culture to communities.

Gidluck is the author of a yet-untitled book that is slated to be released this year. She works with Benchmark Public Relations, and the book will be released through Benchmark Press. Read full article HERE 

Donate to the OSAC Silent Auction

The OSAC Board of Directors will again be coordinating the Silent Auction at Showcase. Youth Bursary Available

OSAC is offering a Youth Bursary for Arts Councils to bring youth attendees to Showcase 2017.  (“Youth” is defined as 29 years of age in the year of 2017 or younger.) Arts councils can register a youth and be eligible to receive the amount back - up to a maximum of 2 youth registrations per arts council. The registration fee includes all conference activities and meals. It does not include the cost of accommodation or travel.

Prairie Debut Announces New Executive Director

Prairie Debut announced the appointment of Po Yeh as Executive Director on May 25, 2017. Po Yeh joins Prairie Debut from the Honens Piano Competition, where most recently as Director, Corporate & Community Engagement, she managed corporate development, government and foundation funding, and community and learning programs. Po has been actively involved in the arts community for over 10 years in Calgary and nationally. She will begin her Prairie Debut career on July 4, 2017 and the office will officially move to Calgary as of July 17, 2017. Read full announcement here !!

A new national report, has been released by Community Foundations of Canada in partnership with the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA), is shining a spotlight on the power of the arts to build a greater sense of belonging to our communities, to our country and to each other.  By helping the arts to flourish in all its forms we can continue to create communities that are both reflective of Canada's rich diversity and where everyone feels like they belong.  Read the report HERE

Landmark Assessment on Digitizing the Performing Arts Released

After consultation and research reports published earlier this year by Canadian Heritage and Canada Council for the Arts, CAPACOA and Strategic Moves are now thrilled to release their own assessment of the digital question from the perspective of performing arts presentation. The urgency to understand how digital innovation in the performing arts will affect Canada's performing arts presenting eco-system lies at the heart of this landmark report released. 2016 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal !

Congratulations to Lori Glauser, Yorkton Arts Council, on receiving the 2016 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal! A strong advocate of the Saskatchewan arts community, Lori Glauser volunteers her time and talent to develop and grow various arts and culture organizations and projects both provincially and locally. Additionally, she works to develop and enhance her community.

OSAC launches Inspire! A Youth Mentoring Program for Visual Arts presenters!

A new Arts Presenting Mentorship Program for Arts Councils and Youth under age 29.  OSAC is now accepting Expressions of Interest to Inspire, a new program designed to help Arts Councils mentor and develop the next generation of visual arts presenters in their communities.
