OSAC was saddened to hear of the recent passing of George Zukerman.
George played an important part in the early days of OSAC, as his roster of artists that were part of Overture Concerts, toured through our network of volunteer community presenters. As the years passed, and the business changed, George remained active in bringing world-class artists to Saskatchewan through OSAC. From Michael Kim to The Little Eagles of Siberia, many artists visited a number of Saskatchewan communities throughout the years' thanks to his vision and persuasive ways.
George was a performer, encouraging many young bassoon players throughout the years, and in recent years, he lent his name and expertise to European river cruises featuring live music. George also felt all parts of Canada should be exposed to quality live music experiences, and organized tours, including his own, to Canada’s far North, including Northern Saskatchewan.
His legacy will be the audiences everywhere, including Saskatchewan, that were developed through learned appreciation and exposure to live performances of the artistic disciplines of classical music, dance, and theatre.
He packed a lot into his 95 Years, including going to the North Pole, and traveling throughout the world. Rest Well, George !!
